‘All aboard!’ The great deceiver cries
spitting his words with lust in his eyes.
As the people board he licks his lips
and from his lips a poison drips
it travels around the station ground
attaching itself to the people around.
‘You’re young, you’re free, you only live once!’
His words twist sharply and turn to the hunt.
Like birds caught in cages the people applaud
giving praise to the freedom
they perceive has been born.
For the driver keeps feeding
and the people keep eating
they laugh and they dance and they joke.
But all in all it’s a masquerade ball
with blindfolds stretched over their eyes.
The deceiver says; ‘There’s no need to end!
Set the drinks and the music again!
Keep dancing! Keep shouting!
Keep laughing! Keep pouting!
It makes it all the more fun.
And as the girl with nice clothes
wipes the powder from her nose
she actually sees control.
And as that boy in aisle four
grabs at her leg once more
she giggles and welcomes his plan.
For none do perceive that they’re being deceived
when bondage appears so free.
The microphone clicks.
A silence sits.
A deep a darkened mist.
‘And now ladies and gentlemen
my favourite twist.
I’ll make you believe.
I don’t even exist.’

George, this is so so good! Thanks for writing it! x
